Haunted by a Honda

Of this nightmare
I’ve never talked.
Toward my death bed
a demon stalked.

The rusted hulk bore down on me.
I knew it was no ruse.
From its phantom glare I could not flee.
It loudly did accuse.

“You were not there.
“You did not care.

“Our relationship on trust was built,
“And naught will come to assuage your guilt.

“Our milestone I could not reveal
“to the unknown driver behind my wheel.

“Together we should have seen this through.
“Together we should have been – me and you.”

Meekly, I answered its attack,
“If I could, I’d take it back.”

I winced under its morbid shout,
“I’m sorry that I loaned you out.

“Forgive me please and stay awhile.
“Bless me with a merciful smile.

“Your loyalty I did not earn,
“I know I treated you vile.
“I’m sorry that I missed you turn
“Two hundred thousand miles.”
